Description
Fiji is more than a postcard-perfect getaway….. it’s a place where warm smiles, strong community and ocean life all come together. If you’re looking for volunteer opportunities in Fiji that go beyond the resort walls, the Coral Coast is where you’ll find it.
The Green Lion programs are based along Fiji’s beautiful Coral Coast, known for its laid-back beach villages and friendly local culture. You can support with Teaching, Kindergarten, Construction & Renovation or Sports Education projects. Each projects is designed to build real connections and make a positive local impact. Many travellers kick off with Culture Week, a chance to learn about Fijian traditions, language and daily life before jumping into your placement.
During free time, you can snorkel in crystal-clear lagoons, hike lush inland trails or join a beach volleyball game with your new crew. Whether you’re looking to teach abroad, help build community spaces or simply experience island life in a meaningful way, volunteering in Fiji is the perfect way to travel with purpose and return home with memories (and friendships) that last.

More Information
Description: Fiji is all about beaches, friendly locals and a relaxed island pace. In your free time, you can swim, snorkel or join beach volleyball games. Visit local villages, browse handicraft markets or enjoy traditional dance nights with your group. On weekends, you might island hop, explore waterfalls or take a boat trip to hidden beaches. Whether you want adventure or quiet sunsets, there’s always something to enjoy.
Description: Since meals are included, your daily budget mainly covers transport, snacks and extras. Plan for around FJD 30–70 per day (about €12–€28 or US$13–$32), depending on activities. Local markets and shops are affordable for treats, and shared taxis or buses keep short trips low-cost. Budget extra for weekend excursions or island tours.
Description: The best time to visit Fiji is May to October, during the dry season, when it’s sunny and less humid. November to April is hotter and more humid, with a chance of tropical showers and storms. Even in the wet season, rain usually comes in short bursts, and the islands stay warm and green.
Description: Meals are included during your program and usually feature fresh, local ingredients like seafood, root vegetables and tropical fruits. Typical dishes include kokoda (marinated fish), curries and taro. You’ll also have chances to try local snacks and fresh juices when exploring. Special dietary needs can often be accommodated if requested in advance.
Description: Getting around is easy and laid-back. In towns, you can walk or use local buses and shared taxis. For weekend trips, boats connect nearby islands and coastal spots. Your local team can help you arrange safe and reliable transport for exploring and day trips.
Description: Fijian culture is welcoming and community-oriented. You’ll often be invited to join kava ceremonies, village visits or local celebrations. Respect for elders and community customs is important, and modest dress is appreciated in villages. Locals are warm and eager to share their stories, and learning a few Fijian words goes a long way.
Description: Fiji has a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round, usually 26–31°C. The dry season (May to October) is cooler and less humid, while November to April brings more rain and higher humidity. Pack light, breathable clothes, sun protection and a rain jacket if visiting during wetter months.
